The Red Sox scored 12 runs in the sixth inning against the Indians before recording a single out. That ties the modern major-league (since 1900) record for runs scored before the first out of an inning was recorded. On May 24, 1953, the Brooklyn Dodgers scored 12 runs in the eighth inning before making the first out against the Phillies.

This was only the second time that the Red Sox scored 12 runs in an inning at Fenway Park since divisional play began in 1969. Boston scored 14 runs in the first inning against the Marlins on June 27, 2003.
