A "Katie Melua Forum"-on Mike Batt pár perce lényegében megerősítette, hogy a dalok írásában, és a lemezek készítésében folyatott eddigi nagyon szoros együttműködésük megszűnik Katie-vel, aki ezután más szerzőtársakkal és más producerekkel dolgozik együtt, de Mike marad az executive producere, tanácsadója, és továbbra is ő adja majd ki a lemezeit a Dramatico-nál. Az új lemez, a "Pictures" elkészítése során szerinte nem "veszekedéses viták", csak "megbeszéléses viták" voltak közötte és Katie között, és a kapcsolatuk, az együttműködésük továbbra is megmarad, bár már nem a régi formában, így ő is több időt tud fordítani az egyéb dolgaira. Vagyis egyáltalán nem cáfolta, csak tompította, finomította a híreket.

As for the guy in the Telegraph who quoted her or said that there are lots of arguments about what we record, it's rubbish. I can't remember one argument about what we record, ever. Discussions, yes, but not arguments. Our relationship has always been based on giving each other lots of trust and freedom.

Lényeg az, hogy Katie, akinek ma van a 23. születésnapja, kiharcolta magának a művészi függetlenséget, a sokkal nagyobb szabadságot - bár azt nem hiszem, hogy Mike szó nélkül tűrné, ha a következő lemezt Katie teljesen eladhatatlanná akarná formálni, de miért is tenne ilyet? :)
