The problem lies in the fact that the motor does the most work while accelerating to fast speed. It requires a lot less energy to keep in motion.  Most likely the belt is a little loose and slips during this high torque moment. Really, I would need to hear it myself, so this is only my best qualified guess. You would need to call and request a new belt under the warrantee but be sure that you have the problem nailed down.
