Four times a Grand Prix winner, Scot Hendry was beaten 3-2 by Dubliner Fergal O'Brien at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre. And understandably the world No 1 was bitterly disappointed with his early exit. "That's probably the best I've played all week and I've lost," admitted the seven-times World Champion "But the damage was done in my first three matches. I was rubbish in all three of them, so you get what you deserve. "It doesn't matter how many frames you're playing, I played poorly so I deserve to be out." On the return of a ranking tournament to Scotland, Hendry had wanted to impress on home turf. But with earlier defeats to Devon's Andy Hicks and Welshman Matthew Stevens, he blew his chances of reaching the last 16 knockout stage. "If you don't perform you don't deserve the luck," added the 37-year-old, winner of 36 career ranking event titles. "I've played well today. Generally this week I've played badly and I haven't had the run of the balls, but you don't get it when you play badly. "It's a Catch 22 unfortunately, if you play well you get the run. "There's nothing wrong with the format, I think it's good for game. It's exciting for snooker."
