Serena Williams, who won twice in Paris in 1999 and 2003, will not play as she has not fully healed from her knee operation. The youngest Williams sister, now world n°4, has been away from courts since her win in Wimbledon. Last August 1, she underwent an operation because of a torn tendon of her left quadriceps, and unfortunately she is still suffering.
