Thief takes Stalin's ear
The ear of a Stalin statue has been stolen from an exhibition in Berlin.
It used to belong to a bronze statue pulled down overnight by GDR authorities in 1961 when the ideas of the Soviet leader became unpopular.
A worker employed to dismantle the statue saved the ear.
After his death, his son-in-law gave the six-inch bronze piece to Café Sibylle for an exhibition on local history.
Owner Artur Schneider told the Berliner Morgenpost newspaper the ear went missing while screwed to a wall in the café, which was crowded at the time.
Police have started an investigation.
So far, no witnesses have come forward.
