Clinicians in Italy compared use of topical mitomycin-C and topical steroids in preventing haze following PRK in high myopes. The 15 patients who participated used mitomycin-C in one eye and topical steroids in the other. None of the eyes treated with mitomycin-C developed haze, but four eyes treated with steroids did.

Vagyis összehasonlították a steroidok és a mitomycin-C hatékonyságát PRK (nagyfokú myopia) utáni haze megelőzésének szempontjából 15-15 esetben. Míg a steroidok használata esetén 4 esetben alakult ki haze, addig a mitomycin-C használata esetén egy esetben sem.
