Finally, Lucasfilm, the folks who would know, have officially announced the video release date of Star Wars: Episode One – The Phantom Menace. The official website reports that the video will be hitting video store shelves on April 4th. There’s good news for those of you outside of the U.S., too. The video will be getting a worldwide video release during the week of April 3-8. Check with your local video outlet for specifics. The movie will be offered in both pan and scan
version as well as a deluxe widescreen box set with loads of extras. Oh, and Lucasfilm also adds: "The film is being released on VHS videocassette only and is not being released on the DVD format in 2000 or for the foreseeable future."
