Chinese firms count their 5G deployment and subscribers differently than U.S. operators, so these methodologies can be misleading if improperly compared. 5G service was not turned on in China until November of 2019, Chinese telecom providers listed 9 million 5G users in October 2019, a month prior to its actual activation.
