George Lucas has revealed that the third film of his latest Star Wars trilogy
will be "very, very, very dark." In an interview with the current issue
Britain's Empire magazine, Lucas said, "It's not a happy movie by any stretch of the imagination. It's a tragedy. People think of the Star Wars movies as happy movies. What they're going to do about a tragedy, I don't know." He added: "It will probably be the least successful of the Star Wars movies -- but I know that." Lucas also indicated that his next Star Wars film will be a love story and therefore less of a "kids movie" than the current one. Conceding that he has been receiving a lot of flak from British fans of the first three films, Lucas commented, "The fans' expectations had gotten way high and they wanted a film that was going to change their lives and be the Second Coming. I can't do that.
It's just a movie."
