Last night, Pearl Jam played a benefit concert at the Santa Barbara Bowl for the Louis Warschaw Prostate Cancer Center at Cedars-Sinai Benefit. It was billed as being "acoustic, and then some". So not only was it a rare, acoustic concert (with all money going to charity), but had many surprise guests, including Lyle Workman (www.lyleworkman.com), Jack Johnson (www.jackjohnsonmusic.com), John Frusciante, Jack Irons, and Chris Cornell!
Complain all you want about Pearl Jam, but this would have been one killer concert. You have to give it to Pearl Jam for not only doing a show for such a great cause, but for putting together such a special night

Pearl Jam welcomed a host of famous musical friends on stage last night (Oct. 28) in Santa Barbara, Calif., at a benefit for the Louis Warschaw Prostate Cancer Center at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. The group was joined by its former drummer Jack Irons, singer/songwriter Jack Johnson, veteran guitarist Lyle Workman, Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante, and Soundgarden/Audioslave frontman Chris Cornell for a rare reunion of the pre-Pearl Jam combo Temple Of The Dog.
After Workman's appearance on Johnny Cash's "25 Minutes To Go," Pearl Jam ditched the unplugged format. Irons took over the drum kit for "In My Tree" and "Hail, Hail," two older songs clearly influenced by his style. Johnson dueted with Vedder on the whimsical "Soon Forget" and then remained on stage for "Better Man."
But the biggest surprise came in the form of Cornell, who was first granted a two-song solo acoustic set of "Can't Change Me" and Audioslave's "Like a Stone." He proceeded to reprise his duet with Vedder on Temple Of The Dog's "Hunger Strike" and a nearly 10-minute version of the group's "Reach Down."
Frusciante plugged in for encore runs through the Ramones' "Daytime Dilemma" and another stab at "I Believe in Miracles." The entire cadre of guests returned for a show-closing, six-guitar collaboration on the Byrds' "So You Wanna Be a Rock'n'Roll Star."
All of the additional artists necessitated a longer-than-usual soundcheck, which was still in progress when the gates to the venue opened. "Chris just came down today to rehearse," Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready admitted to Billboard.com of the Temple Of The Dog reunion. "We haven't played these songs with him since one show on the 1992 Lollapalooza when Eddie was sick."
The Santa Barbara show capped a week-long, four-show run of acoustic charity concerts in Seattle and outside San Francisco.
Temple Of The Dog
One band who was in the mix of things during the birth of new era was the short-lived Mother Love Bone, who had high expectations of reaching stardom before disaster struck and band member Andrew Wood died of a heroin overdose just prior to releasing their first album Apple, in 1990. Soundgarden's front man Chris Cornell was a close friend of Andy's and was rooming with him at the time of his death. Trying to find an outlet for his grief, Chris penned a few songs in tribute to Andy, which were "Say Hello 2 Heaven" and "Reach Down". He then asked Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament ( two members of Mother Love Bone) if they would like to record them for a possible release. Chris had also recruited one of his Soundgargen members, Matt Cameron, and the sessions grew into what is now known as the Temple of the Dog project. During the recording sessions the newly formed band was scouting out more members and ended up auditioning a potential front man, San Diego surfer Eddie Vedder, who arrived in Seattle in the fall of 1990. The album was released in April of 1991, and initial sales were modest at best. The band members were still largely unknowns beyond the Seattle music scene, and no one really expected more to happen to the project than that. It wasn't until Soundgarden released what would become the legendary Badmotorfinger and Pearl Jams release of their equally legendary Ten, before the respective bands would explode into superstardom, thirsting fans and media alike for more. It was then that A&M saw the opportunity and began to actively promote Temple of the Dog to a much broader audience. There have been two semi-reunions of Temple of the Dog, one of which took place at the Foundations Forum showcase (attended by Pearl Jam and Soundgarden) in October '91, and the other at the 1992 Lollapolooza show. Rumors continue to circulate regarding another reunion and apparently the management of both Pearl Jam and Soundgarden are continually getting requests for charity appearances and the like. There's even been talk of a second Temple release however unlikely because of the nature of the band's creation to begin with. No one wants to turn Andrew Woods death into a commodity. Temple of the Dog grew out of friendship. The band chose to share their emotions in the best way they knew how: through their music.

Ahogy tudom, most turnék, spanyolország (a baszkok állítólag nagyon csípik őket valami okból), németek, utána októbertől stúdió.
Hehehe. Állítólag a második évfolyamtól várható.
Ironic Norwegian headbangers Turbonegro are getting ready to head into the studio to record their sixth LP, the follow-up to last year's Scandinavian Leather. The band reportedly turned down several American producers who wanted to work with them-- including Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age, with whom Turbonegro toured the states briefly back in 2002-- preferring to produce the record themselves in their hometown of Oslo. Incidentally, the band also recently passed on several high-profile American tours, most notably this summer's aborted Lollapalooza festival. We'd say they made the right choice there.
Although a title for the record has not been decided upon, possible choices include Halfway to Hell, Babylon Burning or Pure Hatred. Those are all fine, we suppose, but they certainly don't have the same ring as Ass Cobra or Apocalypse Dudes. Then again, the three new song titles that have been mentioned-- namely "Chateaus and Plateaus", "City of Satan" and "Dirty Dirty", don't quite have the same ring as "Rendezvous with Anus", or "Don't Say Motherfucker, Motherfucker", either. Are we dealing with a more serious, more mature Turbonegro? Speaking with Norway's Dagsavisen newspaper, bassist Happy Tom revealed, "Two of our members are becoming fathers this summer. This will probably manage to destroy our homo image, thus we should better keep it secret." So, shhhh...
Ízi, ízi, bár ilyen egyszerűen mennének a dolgok. Hehehe. Turbópapa (named by the LORD) egyébként járt a Szigeten is, de tényleg csak pár napot töltött. Szóval mindenki látogasson továbbra is kűfődifeszteket.
Juliette and the Licks a nevük, a Hole régi dobosa játszik vele meg a H20 gitárosa, a zene meg amolyan Iggy Pop-Patti Smith-Blondie keverék.
jópofa trbngr interjúba botlottam a minap: When people asked us what Scandinavian Leather sounded like before it was out we said it's almost a combination of Detroit 1973, Sunset Strip 1983 and Stalingrad 1943.
