In 2005 he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters (DHL) degree from Erskine College for his "renewal of American culture." In 2015 he was awarded a Doctor of Science (DSc) degree from Karunya University (India) for his "contribution to the scholarly literature and the practice of management reflected in his writings and research across the field of management."
Malloch won the Ethics and Integrity Lipscomb University Academic Business with Purpose in Leadership award in 2014 for his book on virtuous business.
Malloch won an award from Pepperdine University Business School for his work on spiritual capital.
Malloch claimed in his book Davos, Aspen & Yale: My Life Behind the Elite Curtain as a Global Sherpa that he was "knighted in the Sovereign Order of St John by the Queen, Elizabeth II herself", but he was actually awarded a medal of St. John which is not awarded in an investiture attended by the Queen.[3]
Malloch has claimed that The Lord Lyon of Scotland awarded him as a Laird his coat of arms in 2006; however, the Financial Times quoted the Clerk of the Court of the Lord Lyon, Elizabeth Roads, as saying "Lord Lyon does not, nor could he, create a person a laird".[3]
