Bjork's upcoming album is tentatively titled "Domestica," and will be influenced by her recent work on Lars Von Trier's film "Dancer In The Dark," the singer said in an online chat.
The chat, hosted last week at Bjork's official website (www.bjork.com), was the first opportunity for the Icelandic singer to discuss the new record, which is still being recorded.
"I guess a working title for it is "Domestica," but it hasn't got a final title yet," Bjork told her fans during the chat.
"I think it would be misleading if I gave you song titles since the songs change so much. It's gone really well. It feels very exciting... It's definitely a place I've never been before. It seems like an actual continuity of all the places I've been!"
Bjork said her work acting in and scoring Von Trier's "Dancer In The Dark" has influenced the new record, but not in the way you might imagine.
"Because I'm in the middle of it, it's hard to pin it down. I guess the only thing I can say... is that because I held my breath... the selfish side of me, for three years, a lot of things are gushing out that are the opposite of the film," she said.
"The film was very harsh. Quite dark, emotionally brutal. So I guess what I'm doing now has got a tendency to be the opposite, which I guess is gentle, humorous, happy and kind."
She said her voice has also matured in recent years.
"I'm more of a craftsman. I think I have gained more vocal control, but at the same time I think that's one advantages of getting older. You will always have the emotion and the rawness. I guess there won't be a day when you've woken up and you feelings are "finished!. You gain more empathy and emotion as you get older but at the same time, because now I train my voice in the mornings when I wake up," she said.
"It grows, emotionally but also technically. It's one of the most exciting things for me. I think actually it's where discipline and instinct meet ...in the most intense way! In me," she said.
"I think it mirrors everything I do. I may get a new favorite album, make new friends, be happy. Get drunk. Gain respect for taxidrivers! I could go on forever, but it will all turn up in my voice," she said.
